Trip Story

Location

Tanzania, Tabora

Nestled in central Tanzania, Tabora is a vibrant, growing town with incredible people and unforgettable surrounding villages. Far enough from any large cities, the nearby villages of Inala and Ifucha are home to authentic and hospitable people. Before you arrive in Tabora, the team will visit Mwanza, gateway to the world famous Serengeti National Park. The itinerary also starts and ends in Dar es Salaam, where an amazing market and sandy beach are beckoning.

Sleep comfortably in an air-conditioned room operated by a charitable partner in Tanzania. Take the opportunity to recoup from the journey and remain in the comfortable center all day or join other members of the group in exploring the largest city in Tanzania. Our driver will take you to an amazing souvenir market and a white-sand beach along the beautiful Indian Ocean.

Day 3

Journey to the Tabora Region

Where Juma’s World began

The team will travel by airplane or land cruiser to central Tanzania. The experience of rural Africa begins here. You will see the endless plains spotted with baobab trees before passing through small villages, and waving to smiling kids all the way.

Day 4

Get ready for hugs

The young children in primary schools love visitors. The school master will have trouble keeping the children from hugging, smiling, laughing, and high-fiving with visitors. The team will be introduced to students through a translator, while members will be able to speak with the children inside and outside the classrooms. Bring some soccer balls or footballs for a great time at recess, and work as a team to creatively teach something to the vibrant, energetic children. Suggested activities and games will be overseen by members of your team.

Visit Primary Schools

Days 5 - 7

Juma’s World partners directly with local villages on projects including homes for children and water wells. You will work with local villagers on projects by day, and overnight with a family in a hut by night. Besides construction and hands-on volunteer activities, days may be filled by more visits to the local schools or excursions to other sites within Tabora region that are partnered with Juma’s World.
